Benefits of Family Walking

With summer upon us, there are so many fun ways to spend our time outdoors. Wherever you are, it is wonderful to be enjoying the nice weather. I want to highlight one of my favorite family activities that has brought my family closer together: family walks! 


What are the benefits of family walks? 
 

  • Enhanced communication and stronger bonds: establishing walks as a time to journey together creates this shared and open atmosphere that is essential for deepening familial bonds. I really appreciated this time that was set apart as we were able to discuss things as a family and learn and grow together.  
  • Healthier lives: walking can help us manage our health, become stronger, and reduce symptoms of various health conditions. These walks are an easy way to get outside and get our bodies moving which is so important for our health!  

Where do I start?  

Start by setting aside time, doing this will show how important this is for you. These walks don’t have to be long and they don’t have to be far, choose the length and time that would be best for your family. Put away any distractions, make sure that in the moment your attention isn’t getting called away by cellphone notifications. Make this a distraction free space to truly deepen these bonds!
