Guest Post: PBS KIDS Utah and COVID-19; Quality Content for Your Family

I'm Elise Brimhall, the Education Program Manager for PBS Utah. With COVID-19 impacting everyday life, especially schools, we know that you are now entertaining and educating children in the home 24/7. It's a big task, and we know it can feel overwhelming. To ease some of the pressure, we at PBS Utah have put together trusted resources for you and your kids.

First, checkout our blog series for Utah parents to get educational hands-on activities, activities from PBS KIDS, and resources from our community partners. The blog features weekly themed literacy and science learning, ways to connect as a family, family activities (game night ideas), and support for parents and children during stressful times (like mindfulness and scheduling).

We are also sending out a bimonthly Parent Newsletter featuring activities from our PBS KIDS Utah Blog, parent articles from PBS Parents, and tips to support you during these uncertain times. We will keep the content fresh to meet your needs and the needs of the families in our community.

As a station, we are also making sure you know how to access PBS KIDS content wherever and whenever through the PBS KIDS Video app, the PBS KIDS Games app, and the PBS KIDS 24/7 Channel.

  • The PBS KIDS Video app gives kids and parents access to thousands of free videos, including full episodes and clips from top PBS KIDS series. With this app, kids can watch their favorite PBS KIDS shows anytime, anywhere!
  • PBS KIDS 24/7 is available on the PBS KIDS Video app for free (no subscription or login required). Tap the "LIVE TV" button to watch what's airing on your local PBS station right now. Or, watch on Channel 7.3 or Comcast 391.
  • The PBS KIDS Games app offers free learning games with favorite PBS KIDS characters anytime, anywhere. PBS KIDS Games features top shows, including Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood, Wild Kratts, Super Why, The Cat in the Hat Knows a Lot About That!, Dinosaur Train and more.

I hope you all are staying safe and finding ways to connect as a family!

Remember to stay healthy, wash your hands, and watch PBS KIDS,
